well im glad that you enjoyed yourself and had a good time. True no party is perfect, but as someone with a inside knowledge of how to do things, and also knowledge of how things were done at Orb, there is a alot i take issue with...
such as one of the main orgs, trying to tell 2 of my friends they were no longer on the lineup, cause their friends needed to play instead.
Or charging your acts, who paid their own way out, and were promised meal plans, and never got them and such, $35 to park, and then being charged again when the went the left to go pick me up at the airport...
or the horrendous sound. Im sorry, but the sound on the main stage was sooo bad i couldnt enjoy any of the sets i wanted to hear. The arrangement of the subs had everything so out of phase, that it sounded like a constant trainwreck all the time.
Perhaps im just bitter, but for having spent nearly $700 this past weekend, what i got for my money and time was not worth it one bit.
When its all about the money and ego and not about the scene and the music, it shows and this party was all about the former from the standpoint of those throwing it. I dont mean to imply that some who went did not have a good time, maybe stuff can be overlooked by some, and it is true ignorance is bliss...
This festival was pure amateur hour, they only thing that made it seem cool was the amount of money they had to hire acts and deco crews, and yes i can and could if given their budget and venue do far far better

I understand your point of view completely lawrence, but I still had an excellent time.
I knew there would be no progression of music (rinkadink into psykovsky into shane gobi- lol), but I simply enjoyed each set as it was, and they were all really awesome.
I knew the sound sucked at the main stage, but got over it pretty quickly. Obviously this is something they need to fix (again) for next year, but at the party it wasn't like there was anything that I could do about it. I thought it was funny having the subs on the side because if you danced near them it sounded like the percussion was in a strange surround sound setup.
The thing with djs being told they're not playing would have pissed me off a lot and put me in a sour mood too. The $35 for parking made sense- they wanted to deter people from parking near their campsites- more people driving around the small, muddy area would have cause more issues to deal with (or the orgs are money hungry a-holes..).
Overall this was the best festival I've ever been to. The music (despite no progression) was superb- saturday night into sunday morning was so fucking epic- every set was just excellent and simon played exactly what I wanted to hear which really made me very very happy. There were heaps of awesome people there and I met a ton of new people who were all very friendly and awesome.

sadly i missed everything after Simmon, though i must say i was pleasantly surprised to hear a fair amount of actually new Hallucinogen material...
how was Zen Mechanics btw?
as for the parking pass thingy.. i understand charging the average party goer on that. Thats something not really unheard of. Fair enough, but to charge your acts it, when they have been told they wont be, or to try and double charge then, when they left and came back after picking me up... SHENANIGANS !!!

You know, there's a funny story because of that set.. At least we got to hear all of it lol Zen's set was really awesome. Good enough that I didn't care that we missed out plane and had to sleep at the airport to catch a flight the next morning good. He played what was either a live mix or remix of Off the Grid which was freakin AWESOME.
